Preparing a DPR & Project Appraisal

Project Appraisal/Credit Appraisal is the process of assessing and questioning proposals and studying their technical and economic viability before resources are committed. For appraisal of projects a Detailed Project Report (DPR) is prepared which details the system, functional and operational architecture and the design to implement the project. DPR is required to be prepared carefully and with sufficient details to ensure positive appraisal, approval and subsequent project implementation in a phased and timely manner. The programme also analyses the various risks including business risks, financial risks and management risks and clarifies the process by which such risks can be mitigated on an ongoing basis.

The workshop has been designed to enable the participants to:

  • Learn about the basic structure of a DPR as required for approval by various lending organisations
  • Provide necessary insights to understand the project appraisal process followed by lending institutions
  • How to identify and appraise the projects that are viable in terms of marketing, technical, financial and economic feasibility
  • How to manage projects risks identification and allocation of project risks amongst different risk taking partners
