Globsyn Business School is among the Winners at AIMS Competition
A few weeks back, I have shared a blog about the wonderful news of Globsyn Business School (GBS) clearing the regional round and poised to competing against IMT-Ghaziabad in the finals of the AIMS CONSCIOUS CAPITALISM SIMULATION COMPETITION, 2018.
Today, I’m extremely proud and excited to share the amazing news of GBS topping the ‘Conscious Scorecard’ of the competition, and also bagging the silver spot by coming 2nd from the combined regions of Eastern and Northern India. Overall, GBS has stood 4th in the National Level – an achievement, which as a Globsynite, I am extremely proud of!
The Association of Indian Management Schools (AIMS) hosted the 30th AIMS Annual Management Education Convention in collaboration with the Academy of Indian Marketing (AIM) and NJOY Learning Processes Pvt. Ltd. which featured a simulation competition for 2nd year MBA/PGDM students of AIM and AIMS member institutions from the four regions of India.
The Conscious Capitalism simulation tested the competitors’ ability to maintain a business in today’s environmental and social climate. Each student experienced what it takes to create both customer value and profitability, all while satisfying the community and maintaining the environment. In this competition, participants learned important skills necessarily needed to be a conscious capitalist. They were taught how to balance the needs of customers, employees, shareholders, suppliers, and the community while working as a team.
The competition comprised of a regional and a final round. After qualifying in the regional round, GBS students went on to the Final Round, held at Bangalore, from 28th August, 2018 to 1st September, 2018. Our team was competing against esteemed institutes like, IIM – Indore, IMT – Ghaziabad, Symbiosis – Pune and other renowned B-Schools pan India. After a rigorous 4 days schedule, where they were continuously involved in the process of decision making and presenting business plans to real life venture capitalists and other well-known professionals, including the author of Marketplace Simulation, Dr. Earnest Cadotte, the fruits were borne and our students brought glory and honour to their alma mater, Globsyn Business School.
The success of our team is credited to the team members – represented by Debanjana Deb Biswas (President Overall Leadership and VP – HR), Arnab Chattaraj (VP – HR), Ribhu Chattopadhyay (VP – Marketing), Saswati Mukherjee (VP – Manufacturing, VP – Business Analytics), Ria Bhattacharjee (VP – Finance and Accounting) – who showed great camaraderie and finesse of mind under the careful mentoring of our faculty, Dr. Debraj Datta and Dr. Subir Sen.
Our team was exposed to a great deal of experiential learning, where we got a taste of how the various departments in an organization work together, to make a business venture successful. We also learned how to work under rigorous time constraint and immense stress. All these experiences contributed to our learning curve and helped us into becoming ‘industry relevant managers’ of the future.
