Emotional Intelligence (EI) starts with one’s Self-Awareness. By this, it means, knowing one’s self in its entirety. The case in point is the concept of the Johari Window, wherein everyone’s Open Area must be large. This can be ensured by reducing one’s Blind Area, diminishing one’s Hidden Area, and curtailing one’s Dark or Closed Area. Next is Self-Motivation. Life is full of roller-coaster rides. So, no matter what comes on the way, one should always keep her/his spirits high and must never feel let down. Then comes, Self-Control. Everyone should possess a proper sense of proportion and should know when to stop from going overboard. The last two ingredients of EI are Empathy and Social Skills. Empathy refers to understanding others’ problems from the affected person’s situation/viewpoint rather than from one’s own. So, someone coming late to the office for the first time should not be instantly rebuked but causes of lateness should be discerned and if found the same has been for genuine reasons should be condoned. Social Skills imply a person’s ability to develop rapport and foster bonhomie and camaraderie with others whom she/he interacts or befriends with. Once a person’s EI increases, she/he becomes more accepted by others and demonstrates effective interpersonal relations with people around.
Artificial Intelligence (AI) enables computers to think and conceive like the human brain. It has made inroads into various spheres. One such is pharma. Artificial Intelligence has been driving pharmaceutical companies to discover new drugs. The idea behind works on the philosophy that AI helps to re-align the structure of drugs into newer molecules with properties lending to added indications for the use of such medicines. Companies that have used AI to discover new drugs include Exscientia, Recursion Pharmaceuticals, and AION Labs, just to name a few. It is reported that ninety-five percent of pharmaceutical companies have been using AI to discover new drugs. The outcome of using AI in drug discovery has led to the development of Anastrozole, Letrozole, and Exemestane – in the treatment of breast cancer in post-menopausal women – also BEN-8744 for the treatment of Ulcerative Colitis, and many, many others.
As against the above for AI, Spiritual Intelligence (SI) involves exercising care, compassion, and selfless service. No wonder, therefore, that Globsyn Business School, India’s first corporate B-School, and identified as one of the best business private business schools in India, has been using SI by reaching out to the underprivileged, differently abled, and elderly while also channelizing youth through its various innovative programs like Joy of Giving, Birthday celebration of inmates of old-age homes, Mango Magic, Winter Magic, Kalyani Ananda Utsav, Diwali gifts for the children of service staff, and the distribution of apparels, and warm clothes to the needy on certain red-letter days – all encapsulated under what is nomenclated as Beyond Education. This is simultaneously undertaken along with conducting regular classes on various subjects and various other co-curricular activities, aimed to develop a holistic personality in its students, thereby, addressing both left-brain and right-brain learnings in management education.
In today’s rapidly changing world, Emotional Intelligence, Artificial Intelligence, and Spiritual Intelligence all play a crucial part in influencing persons and societies. While AI promotes innovation, EI improves interpersonal interactions, and SI encourages compassion. A harmonious synergy of all three is required for overall personal development and an evolving, empathetic world – and this is what Globsyn Business School aspires to instill in its students.
