Human values form the foundation of an individual’s personality. There are five Universal Human Values: Love, Truth, Right Conduct, Peace, and Non-violence. These values foster a positive working environment and ensure harmonious relationships among people. Societies and nations built on these universal values are stable, sustainable, and characterized by mutual trust, respect, and charm. They play a crucial role in various stages of one’s education and career.

At Globsyn Business School, the upcoming world-class Sukamal Dasgupta Universal Human Values Center (SDUHVC) allows students to fully develop their inner potential to achieve their personal goals and, ultimately, the objectives of the organizations they work for. The state-of-the-art infrastructure of this center on our beautiful campus enables students to meditate, introspect, and listen to insightful talks by renowned speakers on topics such as resilience, compassion, kindness, integrity, empathy, and more. These sessions are conducted by our in-house faculty through a uniquely crafted syllabus. As a result, students graduate from our two-year postgraduate management program well-balanced in knowledge, skills, and attitude, making them highly desirable to corporations and industries.

Our graduates are prepared to deliver and work productively from day one with the right mental attitude. We instill in our students values such as concern for the underprivileged, care for differently-abled people, and the ability to channel youth for harmony. It is no wonder that Globsyn is the institute of choice for aspirants seeking to advance their careers and progress in life.

Eminent personalities from around the world have provided valuable insights on instilling good human values in our young managers. One such celebrated figure is Dr. (Prof.) Mary Gentile, the creator of “Giving Voice to Values” at Darden Business School, University of Virginia, USA. She is also an esteemed member of our Editorial Board of the Globsyn Management Journal and a member of our Governing Council.

Additionally, our Spirituality Club allows students to present papers and articles on practicing spirituality in workplaces and educational institutions. They also visit places of related interest and listen to stimulating discourses by subject matter experts. At GBS, spirituality is distinct from religiosity. While spirituality focuses on unconditional love, care, inner life, meaning at work, and self-fulfillment, creating harmony with oneself, at work, and with the environment, religiosity is based on rituals and doctrines.

Universal Human Values signify the ability of people to cooperate with one another. This includes teamwork, group projects, following instructions and directions, and getting along with superiors and subordinates alike. These values are not only required in a formal working environment but also bring joy in personal and informal relationships. Interpersonal values and skills are more important than knowledge or intelligence. Even if someone possesses information but cannot communicate or persuade effectively, the information loses its value and becomes insignificant.

Ethics should be an integral component of business. Acting with rectitude, or doing things the right way, is crucial, and showing kindness to those in need is vital for corporate social responsibility. Practicing Universal Human Values enables individuals, teams, and organizations to serve as responsible and good corporate citizens. Diversity, equity, and inclusion are three cardinal values that enhance an organization’s worth to society. Therefore, the essence and importance of Universal Human Values is immeasurable.
